When I think of face powders, the first thing that comes to mind is ‘old lady skin’. Sorry if that offends anyone, but this is my blog and I can say whatever the hell I want!
I know a handful of lovely older ladies who only wear face powders, but when I look at their skin I think it could do with a bit more coverage.
I started wearing foundation at around 14, I think. Having always gone for a compact foundation or liquid foundation, I’d never purchased a mineral powder foundation, so I was keen to give one a go.
I reached out to the lovely ladies at Vani-T, who sent me their mineral powder foundation along with the cutest littlest ‘kabuki brush’ I have ever seen – it gets better, it even comes in a purse! So great for the handbag ladies.
As I am almost 28 I have only really started to take skincare seriously over the last 6 months to be perfectly honest. I have never been into caking the makeup on, but have always worn foundation every day. I’ll apply it twice if heading out after work, or the classic shower and reapply.
Cutting back on day make up has been great for my skin. On face value, I look like death. My face is quite pale. I look sick (or look like Amanda Bynes) but being the feminist that I am, if men don’t have to wear makeup why am I supposed to ‘have to’? Exactly.
So what did I think?
First things first, I tapped a little into the lid and applied the powder to my face and neck with my super cute brush. I asked my coworker what she thought and she said it was a little pale, so it kinda put me off the product for a week.
Round two I tried my powder again, applied some mascara and a touch of bronzer on my cheeks (I recently had my hair lightened. Adios ombre roots, I’m on my way to Koko 2016 blonde). I think I looked half decent compared to my Amanda Bynes usual. I also went outside and checked how my skin looked in the mirror, and I liked the colour and overall look that it reflected.
Lately, I don’t know how but I have been going to the gym at 6am. I need to complete a workout, shower and be on the road by 7.30 for an 8.30am start. My mineral powder foundation has been a lifesaver as I am done applying in seconds I could even do this at my desk at work. Dw I won’t, if my boss is reading this!
What’s even more appealing is this product is 100% Australian owned and cruelty free. I have been using it for around 2 weeks and have had no reaction from the product I feel like I am wearing nothing – but still look presentable and effortless.
Overall, I am very satisfied and would recommend this product to anyone who wants minimum coverage, struggles to get going in the morning, or is low maintenance. This product is for you.
Vani-T is also a celebrity favourite with the likes of Kylie & Dannii Minogue loving their tans- which I’ve totally gotta try now.
