My Interview with Cveta Demos

When I think of beautiful stationery one name comes to mind. I had the pleasure of interviewing the very talented Cveta Demos. Brides-to-be look no further.

How did the concept for Wedding Paper Chic come along?

Simply put, I am a creative. I have been drawing, sketching and painting since I was a young child. I finished a bachelor degree in Applied Chemistry and attempted to follow in the footsteps of my older sisters with their careers in the medical world, but my heart was just not in it. I continued to dabble in design and pretty much taught myself the ins and outs of the graphic world – and I was just in love!

When I got engaged in 2012, I realised there was a lack of ‘Luxury’ Melbourne based stationers. I searched online for designs I liked but I really just wanted to work with someone that was available to meet with me and discuss in person my requirements for such a momentous occasion.

I decided then and there – I would start my very own business and Wedding Paper Chic was born.

Not only did I want to create the most premium looking invitations and stationery, I wanted to create an enjoyable journey for my customers. Something they could get involved in and get excited about. After all, the service that comes along with a product is just as important as the product itself.

I also decided to learn some new tricks … oops I mean trades! Such as letterpress and foiling. It was important to me as a business to offer my customers services that I could control in-house and also keep the price decent, after all we all know how things can just add up when we are paying for a wedding!

In 2014 I was on a mission to become Melbourne’s most premium paper boutique priding itself on products and of course, amazing service.

I dreamed of having a beautiful store – and slowly as my business grew from customers on Instagram I opened my first boutique store in Prahran, January 2015.

We are constantly evolving and growing as a business – with 2 designers, myself and my supportive husband (foiling man). We hope to create a special and unique experience for all the brides-to-be.

What are the current trends in the stationery world?

Foil, foil oh and more foil! 2014 was the year of rose gold foil and this year my brides are loving the yellow gold! It is very regal and used in moderation can transform a beautiful invitation into a showstopper.

Letterpress invitations are still very popular – and if budget permits – my brides are opting for a part press part foil … the ultimate duo!

I see you and Vanessa are the brains behind Wax Pouring Chicks. What can we expect to see from you both in the next year?

Vanessa is my sister in-law and now the sole owner of Wax Pouring Chicks. It grew a little faster than what we had expected, and I needed to focus on my stationery so I handed the reigns to Vanessa.

This year you can expect to see new innovative designs, scents and of course more wedding favours!

You seem as though you live and breath the bridal world. Any tips for brides-to-be on planning their perfect day?

My one most important tip for brides-to-be, is make sure you get a good vibe from all your suppliers! It is super important that who you are dealing with understands your vision and works with you in creating your dream day. I can assure my clients that I am absolutely excited about their wedding – because truthfully I am! I love hearing about your dress, your venue, your shoe hunting and your honeymoon planning!
