I am so excited to feature Sarah, the owner of Sunkissed the Collective. I am all about #Girlbosses and obsessed with online shopping, so it’s an honor to have Sarah on my blog. If you’re in love with summer, the ocean and tan lines like me, or need a new outfit for your next adventure or summer date night… Sunkissed the Collective is for you, ladies. You are going to fall in love. Don’t panic, she also has knitwear for you Melbourne ladies, and the most amazing towels to create the perfect beach selfie, #beachlife.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I don’t know if there was a certain ‘a-ha’ moment for me as such, but I had been working in corporate services for some time and wasn’t really enjoying it. I felt like a fish out of water and knew I wanted to run my own business. During this time I also became really interested in fashion, so when I left I went and worked in retail for a while. It was there that I decided I wanted to start Sunkissed.
How long has Sunkissed the Collective been open for business?
Almost 12 months now. It’s been a crazy ride but I’m really excited that the end of September marks our first year and can’t wait to see what the future has in store for Sunkissed.
When sourcing stock, where do you look for inspiration?
Sunkissed is curated around the beach and the beach lifestyle and so I take a lot of inspiration from our hometown of Burleigh Heads, as well as surrounding towns like Byron Bay. I also look to style bloggers like Jessica Stein and Lucy Williams, to name a few, who always seem to be travelling to new beach destinations around the world.
I also like to try to ensure we carry a selection of boutique brands that offer something different from the usual retail stores.
If you could style one celebrity, who would it be and why?
Sienna Miller. I absolutely adore her freckles and bohemian style.
For all those lucky ducks travelling overseas and escaping the Australian winter, what are you three travel essentials you can’t live without?
Coconut sunscreen, my favourite bikini and playsuit and, if I can take it with me, my surfboard.
What’s you career highlight to date?
I am really excited for this Spring/Summer collection and what we have in store for our customers. Earlier this year, I was also invited to be the Gold Coast Ambassador for the League of Extraordinary Women. As part of this role, I organise the LOEW events here on the Gold Coast. This has been such an incredible experience so far and I have been lucky enough to meet so many local women doing incredible things.
I can’t wait to wear this gorgeous dress when I am over in the States.
