I am a little overdue with this post but as they say, better late than never, right? If you didn’t get a chance to check out my Melbourne Cup outing, check it out here.
After an early start and late finish, it was back to the office on Wednesday. Who didn’t struggle that day? (Note to self: Apply for annual leave next year) But this year, I was lucky enough to win an Instagram competition thanks to Yellowglen.
I received a beautiful package of Mor products and two tickets to attend my first Crown Oaks Day celebration. The weather forecast was not looking good. I woke up to rain, and just like that, Oaks day became Soaks Day.
I decided to wear a skirt that I already had in my closet. I was having a ‘fat’ day (week, month) so decided to wear something loose… This was also last minute so I had to improvise. I purchased a top from The Iconic, which is brilliant for last-minute outings, because if you order by 2pm, you get it the next day!
I picked up a basic fascinator from Spotlight and wore shoes I already had (that I didn’t mind getting ruined, thanks to the rain) and mum’s vintage clutch, which I loved!
I didn’t feel 100% in my outfit as everything is tight as of late, but I felt the look suited the theme of Ladies Day. My date on the other hand looked incredible, all in white. Souha looked romantic, feminine and tasteful. Loved the fascinator she made herself.
We enjoyed a little sun in the Yellowglen Terrace, which was beautiful with such a great Hamptons feel. While we sipped on sparkling and admired the stunning outfits, down came the rain. I won’t lie; it ruined the day but was still an awesome atmosphere and a little funny now that I think about it…Even though my shoes are now in the bin.
I also attended my first Stakes Day with my niece and nephew; it was such an amazing day. Again the weather Gods didn’t start the day with sunshine but it sure ended with it.
The kids loved it! Aydin looked very handsome in his blazer and Leyla in her purple gown and fascinator. From the pony rides, face paint, mini golf, dancing with Dora Explorer, to the selfies with Cody Simpson and Andrew Moss, (and lots of bubbles of course for us adults!) it was a relaxed day at the races with my family.
I really enjoyed Myer Fashions on the Field and can’t wait to enter with my own kids one day. My outfit may have been (in my opinion) unflattering and last minute but at least it will now find a better home after being donated to charity.
After three race-days out of four, I was exhausted, but can’t wait to do it all again next year and to plan outfits I love and feel comfortable in. Thanks to all who made my Spring Racing Carnival a memorable one. Enjoy the snaps!
