Share the Dignity is a charity I wasn’t aware of until flicking through my Fernwood magazine, I was impressed to see that my gym had a collection box for this great cause so I decided to help out.
I recently purchased some maternity pads by accident so rather then throw them out or leave them in my bathroom drawer for the next 10 years, I thought I could donate these along with a packet of tampons and some panty liners.
Whilst doing some research on the cause through the website, I was saddened to see that more than 75 women lost their lives last year at the hands of their partners and that 25% of homelessness in women is due to domestic and family violence.
Share the Dignity aims to provide homeless and at-risk women nationally with sanitary products to allow them a sense of dignity at a time when they need it most.
If you would like to donate some sanitary products then the collection sites will be announced at the end of March. Keep an eye our on the website here. When you’re out shopping make sure to throw in another pack to donate.
There are also other ways of donating so please check out the website to see how you can help.
Together we can all make a difference.
