Australian Open Festival 2016

Who doesn’t love the tennis? I have no idea how the game works but I love the atmosphere it brings to the city of Melbourne. I have been over the last few years and always really enjoy all the outdoor festivities. From the food and drinks to the freebies, it’s a great day out.

This year I am crushing on Nick Kyrgios, something about a bad boy losing his cool on court is a little attractive, not to mention he is a great talent and so young. I was thrilled to see the first Australian Open festival at Birrarung Marr. I love food festivals so was adamant to make my way down and sample some great food and watch a little tennis.

The festival featured my favourite Mexican restaurant Mamasita, we had the paprika and halloumi corn, and vegetarian nachos. We also had a lamb souvlaki and saganaki with sour cherry dip. I could have gone a burger from Huxtaburger too but thought I would control my appetite and try and get back there again in the coming days … He he.

The Canadian Club Racquet Club was the place to be. We enjoyed the outdoor festival vibe, listening to one of our favourite DJs, John Course play whilst sipping on some Jacobs Creek Pinot Grigio and of course Canadian Club.

The festival was decked out with big screens, bean bags, amazing outdoor furniture and an amazing vibe. Best of all it’s a free entry event for all ages.
